Bryant Elementary celebrated its 30th anniversary with color-coded shirts and a unique drone photo.
Bryant Elementary celebrated its 30th anniversary on Oct. 30, 2025 in a unique way. During a special school assembly, the Bryant student body and staff members were presented with a gift bag. Each bag contained various colored shirts that were sponsored by Othodontics Exclusively of Norman just for the event. The bags also contained a lanyard with a 3D-printed gem.
Principal Trey Skaggs shared with students that as they continue their path of learning through the Leader in Me program to develop their character and behaviors, each of their shirt colors represents a gemstone family group.
He explained that each family group will:
- Care for each other
- Help and support each other
- Celebrate victories
- Learn and grow together
- Respect and value the unique genius in each other
- Stand up for one another
- Have special moments
Leader in Me is a program that's being explored across the MPS district and it is based on the best-selling book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People."
The students were then randomly divided into six gem family groups that coincide with their shirt color: ruby, topaz, onyx, amethyst, emerald and sapphire. The colors are associated with part of their Leader in Me learning. Skaggs told the students they will remain in their family gem group as long as they are a Bryant Elementary student. The family gem groups will compete against one another as we work to meet our Bryant schoolwide Wildly Important Goals, known as WIGs.
Students excitedly put their gem shirts on over their school clothes and then met outside for a Bryant family photo in the shape of the number 30. Andrae McConnell of the MPS Educational Technology team flew a drone over the cheering students to take pictures and a video to commemorate the special day.
