HEJH Yearbook a Sweepstakes Winner at Yearbook Competition

The HEJH yearbook team learned their yearbook finished as a 2023 Sweepstakes Winner at the Oklahoma Scholastic Media’s Division III Yearbook Competition.

Cougar Yearbook Advisor Erik Jackson said, "Our students earned 10 first-place awards out of 24 categories and finished second and third in most others. They also earned five Marks of Distinction and earned an 'All Oklahoman' status.
“I have attended OSM/ OIPA since the age of 13, and it is such a pleasure to be able to take our kids to the conference,” adviser Erik Jackson said. “Our students were so excited and they represented our school with class. I am proud of their hard work and commitment to excellence.”
In July, the Cougar staff learned that the National Scholastic Press Association named their book All American, as they finished with 480 out of 500 points on their critique. Students earned Marks of Distinction in all categories: photography, writing/ editing, design, coverage, and essentials.
“Both awards are tremendous accomplishments,” Jackson said. “Our kids are simply amazing, and I am so thankful to be able to lead them.”
HEJH Principal Hether Little-Shirey said, "This is such an amazing honor and accomplishment. I am so proud of Erik and his students on the yearbook staff."
