Moore Public Schools raised the hourly rate of pay for its bus drivers to $17 and driver hopefuls can receive paid training as they work toward passing their Class B CDL License.

Drivers will work a minimum of six (6) hours per day or 181 days per year. Many drivers experience the benefits of working a split shift in which the hours are approximately from 6:15 to 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Drivers who are full-time have health benefits and the option of state-paid retirement.

During the training process, MPS provides study materials to prepare drivers to pass their written test. If passed, a CDL Permit is issued and drivers must then complete classroom training and behind-the-wheel training. After all exams are successfully passed, drivers earn their Class B CDL with (P)assenger and (S)chool Bus endorsements.

Some additional benefits are:

  • 14 days of paid leave per school year
  • Drivers receive year-around pay
  • Drivers only work on days when school is in session
  • Paid training
  • Summers and weekends off
  • Drivers are off during school holidays
  • There is continuous training for MPS drivers
  • Excellent work culture
